Clark Layton Diamond Canadian # DL 109

$385.00

First time I saw a Diamond shanked Canadian was by Charatan made 40 years ago. I understand why. A well know pipe maker told me at one Chicago show that it is far easier to make a blowfish than a hand symmetrical shape as this. I understood, I mean you blink when working on it and one side is lower than its opposite, then what. Turn it into a pencil shank or fire wood. This is a shape you get right on the 1st pass. There is no 2nd chance. That is why some pipemakers I have asked to make me some say, 'thanks but no thanks'.

This one has no such issues and shows the master craftsmanship of Clark. First pass and spot on. The stem matches perfectly as it should. A classic revived.

Note: The bowl is bigger than it looks and the pipe is wonderfully lightweight.
